Rotaract Club Glyfada of Athens / Greece, District 2470

Members of the Rotaract Club Glyfada of Athens (District 2470 Greece) ready to enter one of the Social andMetropolitan Dispensaries of Athens to hand in the collected medicalsupplies.

The Social and Metropolitan Dispensaries of Athens appeal to alldeprived-of-public-health-services people, regardless of their race, religion, nationality, gender and age. The only criterion for somebodyto be the receiver of their free-of-charge medical care services is acertification of one's low income (or often the lack of it) and theabsolute absence of access rights to public health insurance. We, thenew, rotar-active generation, acknowledge not only the failure of thegreek state to cover its citizens' basic necessitites, but also therising degree of despair among the lowest social levels: the workingclass, the refugees, the migrants (legal or illegal), the unemployedand the old. By merciful rotar-acts like this we aim at contributingto both the physical and the inner healing of the "poorest of thepoorest" and to easing their agony. We stand for the living proof thatthe antidote to pain, compassion, knows no borders and makes nodescriminations (just like pain); and therefore is universal. Or evenbetter, according to modern science, multi-versal!
